Yep here's the emaths TYS question 5.... xD...
Qn5. The variables x & y are connected by an equation y= x square/6 + 12/x - 6, the table below shows some corresponding values of x & y,
the values of y are given to 1 decimal place when appropriate (draw your own table i'll just say the values)
when x=1, y= 6.2
when x=1.5, y=2.4
when x=2, y=0.7
when x=3, y= -0.5
when x=4, y= -0.3
when x=5, y=0.6
when x=6, y=2
when x=7,y=k
(a) calculate the value of k corrected to 1 decimal place.
(b) using a scale of 2cm to 1 unit on each axis, draw a horizontal x-axis for 0<_x_<8, and vertical y axis for -1<_y<_7.
(c) by drawing a tangent, find the gradient of the curve at the point x=1.5 & y=2.4
(d) show your method clearly, use your graph to find the values of x with the range 1<_x<_7 for which x square/6 + 12/x = 7
(e)(i) on the same axis, draw the graph of the straight line y = x/4
(ii) use the graph to find the values of x in the range 1<_x<_7, for which x square/6 + 12/x - 6 <_ x/4
yeap thats all....xD
